A Question...

Which do you think is more important: persistence, or intelligence/talent?

Sometimes I wonder this as I teach. Sometimes I wonder this as I write.

I know you need some of both to be successful...but if you had to choose one as more important for school, life, and artistic pursuits, which would you choose and why?

(This is a video that has nothing to do with the question--think of it as a bribe to comment! Or maybe as just something cool that I posted so I can find it easy when my five-year-old asks for it...)

  1. Persistence. If you are persistent, you can learn to do anything. I truly believe that.

    1. I love that attitude! And I think you're right. Although I'm not positive I could ever learn to be all that good at dancing... (I have issues--but I'm sure I could get quite a bit better!)

  2. Yep, I'd have to go with persistence too. You can have all the talent in the world but, if you're not willing to work at something and stick with it when things get tough, you'll never get to where you want to go.

    1. True. Maybe I should've gone with persistence v. hard work? But those two so often go together. Well, yay for persistence when things get tough!
